Rural sociology research


Doi Moi in Vietnam has transformed patterns of social relations in rural Vietnam.


The department’s research areas consists of social transformations of villages and communes, labor and occupational structures, social relations, social stratification, education and social welfare in rural areas, farmers in the market economy.


Currently the department pays attention to social aspects of the ‘new rural movement’, linkages between rural regions, impacts of globalization and international integration on rural areas of Vietnam.
